How to keep gaming without killing your battery
Mobile gaming and battery anxiety go hand in hand. The good news is that a few quick changes can dramatically extend how long you play before hunting for a charger.
Start in the settings menu of the game itself. Most titles have a frame-rate cap or a low-power mode tucked away, and capping to 30 frames in a slower game like an RPG costs you almost nothing visually while saving a lot of charge. Turning down particle effects helped me in Legends of Slots more than I expected.
At the phone level, drop your screen brightness and turn off haptic feedback for games that lean on constant vibration. The vibration motor is a quiet battery hog. Darker game themes also help on OLED screens.
Finally, heat and battery go together. A phone that's running hot is burning through charge faster, so playing racing games in short sessions and letting the device cool down actually stretches your overall battery life across the day.
