About
Pocket Playbook started as a group chat where a few of us kept arguing about which games were actually worth the storage space. Eventually we turned those arguments into something more useful: a small site where we test mobile games properly and write down what we found.
We pick games across every genre, not just the ones that are trending. An RPG that eats three hours of your evening deserves a different kind of review than a quick arcade runner, and we try to respect that. We care a lot about the stuff that gets ignored in app store listings: touch controls, settings menus, how hot the phone gets, how fast the battery bleeds.
Nobody here gets paid to be nice about a game. We buy or download everything ourselves, play until we have a real opinion, and say so plainly. If a control scheme is clumsy, you'll read that.
The team is small and the pace is deliberate. We would rather publish one review we stand behind than ten we rushed.
Mikael Rautavaara — Mikael has been reviewing games since the days of flip phones and still keeps a drawer full of old devices for testing. He edits every piece that goes up on the site.
